Girls' Generation's Yuri to Leave SM Entertainment After 19 Years, Says Group Activities Will Continue

(Seoul, Aug. 1) Girls' Generation member Yuri has confirmed that she will part ways with SM Entertainment after nearly 19 years with the company. However, she reassured fans that her departure will not affect the group's future activities as the iconic K-pop act prepares to celebrate its 20th anniversary next year.

SM Entertainment announced that Yuri's exclusive contract will officially expire on Aug. 31. After extensive discussions, both parties mutually agreed not to renew the agreement, bringing their long-standing partnership to an end.

The agency thanked Yuri for the years they spent together, saying it had been a privilege to witness her growth from a member of one of K-pop's most influential girl groups into a successful actress and entertainer. SM also wished her success in the next chapter of her career.

Despite ending her individual contract, the company stressed that Yuri will continue participating in Girls' Generation's group activities, assuring fans that the team's future plans remain unchanged.

With her departure, Yuri becomes the fifth Girls' Generation member to leave SM Entertainment after Tiffany, Sunny, Sooyoung and Seohyun. Taeyeon, Yoona and Hyoyeon remain signed with the agency, while the group's close bond continues to fuel expectations for future reunions.
