This tactical setup stems from Alonso’s rich experience as both player and coach. He has worked under legendary managers including Luis Aragonés, Vicente del Bosque, José Mourinho, Pep Guardiola, and Carlo Ancelotti. His style is noted for achieving a strong balance between attack and defense.

While coaching Real Sociedad B, Alonso had already adopted the 3-4-2-1 system. In contrast, Ancelotti rarely used a three-center-back formation at Madrid. Now, players will need to quickly adapt to this new structure, and the club’s summer transfer activity will be aligned with Alonso’s tactical approach.

One potential target, Trent Alexander-Arnold, is considered an ideal fit for Alonso’s system due to his stamina, dribbling skills, and ability to make surprise attacks. Madrid is expected to pursue full-backs with similar qualities in the upcoming transfer window.
