Wang Xinyu Bagsels Jabeur to Advance, Joins Zheng Qinwen in Berlin Main Draw

At the WTA 500 Berlin Open, Chinese tennis player Wang Xinyu delivered a dominant performance by defeating former Grand Slam finalist Ons Jabeur in the second round of qualifying. The match ended 6-1, 3-6, 6-0, as Wang secured her spot in the main draw — marking a promising return to form.

Wang started strong, breezing through the first set 6-1. Despite a setback in the second set, where Jabeur rallied back, Wang stormed through the decider with a stunning 6-0 scoreline, effectively “bageling” her high-profile opponent.

This victory is a significant confidence boost for Wang, who has struggled with early exits and a declining ranking — now sitting at world No. 48. Her two straight qualifying wins not only earn her a place in the main draw but also help her accumulate crucial points for Wimbledon seeding.

The Berlin tournament features nearly all top-10 players, with only Iga Swiatek absent. With both Wang and Zheng Qinwen in the main draw, hopes are high for Chinese tennis fans as the players look to make a deep run on German grass.
