China’s most powerful domestically produced heavy-duty gas turbine, the “Taihang 110”, has officially rolled off the production line at the AECC Gas Turbine Manufacturing and Assembly Base, ready for delivery. According to CCTV News, this milestone marks the entry of China’s independently developed 110-megawatt-class heavy-duty gas turbine into a new phase of full-scale commercial application.

Heavy-duty gas turbines are considered core equipment for efficient energy conversion, clean utilization, and wide-ranging industrial applications. They are also regarded as a hallmark of advanced industrial capability—an achievement mastered by only a handful of nations worldwide.

Developed entirely by the Aero Engine Corporation of China (AECC), the “Taihang 110” boasts full independent intellectual property rights and cutting-edge engineering. Delivering rapid start-up, high overall thermal efficiency, and ease of maintenance, it can operate on a wide range of fuels—including fuel oil, natural gas, and medium-to-low calorific value gases. Its versatility allows it to serve in combined heat and power systems, natural gas peaking power plants, combined-cycle power generation, and other strategic energy applications.

This landmark achievement not only showcases China’s growing prowess in high-end energy equipment manufacturing but also strengthens the nation’s capabilities in clean energy and industrial resilience.
