Meet Isaacs, the household chore robot developed by Weave Robotic—a company founded by former Apple executives. Isaacs has already begun work at Tumble Laundry, a commercial laundromat, marking a major leap from concept to real-world application. Notably, Weave Robotic secured three rounds of funding even before officially unveiling its product, highlighting strong investor confidence.

Beyond Showcases: A Robot That Truly Works

While many robots are still limited to folding clothes in controlled demonstrations, Isaacs is already operating at a commercial level. It is the first general-purpose robot capable of folding paid laundry with precision and reliability—a significant milestone for service robotics.

Here’s how the workflow plays out: after the laundromat completes washing and drying, Isaacs takes over the most labor-intensive step—folding and organizing clothes. Unlike simple mechanical folding, Isaacs follows Weave Robotic’s strict quality standards. For example, shirts must be folded neatly with smooth edges, collars facing upward, and stacks aligned in the same direction. Once folded, Isaacs even organizes garments to keep the workspace tidy.

The Technology Behind Isaacs

Isaacs’ seamless performance is driven by three layers of core technology:

  1. Vision-Language-Action (VLA) Model – Trained in-house by Weave Robotic, the model identifies garment types, locates folding points, and makes decisions for accurate folding.
  2. High-Performance Network Stack – When unusual situations arise—such as wrinkled fabrics or disordered piles—remote human operators can step in. Even so, Isaacs’ prototype already achieves 70% end-to-end autonomous folding, requiring human input only occasionally.
  3. Continuous Learning Pipeline – Every folding task contributes new data, helping retrain and strengthen the next generation of VLA models for improved efficiency across diverse fabrics and designs.

Currently, Isaacs is actively gathering data in laundromats, further sharpening its robustness through real-world training.

More Than Just a Folding Robot

Weave Robotic envisions Isaacs as a multi-purpose household assistant, not just a folding machine. Future capabilities could include tidying clutter, managing home security, and other domestic tasks. User privacy is also built into the design: when idle, Isaacs’ camera folds shut and its frame retracts, ensuring discretion within the home environment.

The company’s credibility is anchored by its co-founders’ experience.

  • Evan Winelan (CEO) – A Carnegie Mellon alumnus and former Apple AI Product Lead, where he oversaw AI projects and Siri updates.
  • Kaan Dogrusoz (CTO) – Also from Carnegie Mellon, formerly Apple Research Lead, contributing to Apple Watch and iPhone innovations.
