September 28 — The global memory market faces renewed pressure as DRAM and NAND shortages prove more severe than expected. Industry insiders confirm that the price hike cycle has officially begun, with a strong uptrend expected in Q4 2024 and into 2026.

Recent moves across the supply chain have sent a clear signal: prices are on the rise. Following announcements from SanDisk, Micron, Samsung, and Western Digital, major memory module manufacturer ADATA has joined the wave, halting DDR4 quotations as of September 29 and prioritizing DDR5 and NAND supply for key clients. Analysts see this as a direct response to intensifying supply shortages.

In the NAND segment, the rally is even clearer. Industry leader Phison has resumed quotations on selected products with price increases of up to 10%, widely seen as the official start of NAND’s upward trend.

Experts agree: Q4 price hikes are inevitable. Although October’s contract prices are yet to be finalized, upstream suppliers are adopting an increasingly aggressive stance, meaning actual hikes will likely exceed earlier forecasts.

Market outlook:

  • DDR5 contract prices: expected to rise 10%–15%, with spot prices climbing 15%–25%.
  • DDR4 contract prices: set to rise 10%+, with spot increases exceeding 15%.

For consumers, this translates into steadily climbing prices for PC memory and SSDs in the coming months. Those considering upgrades may want to act sooner rather than later.
