“Driving a Lexus—life feels complete.”

During the golden era of fuel-powered cars, the Lexus ES was the most sought-after model in Guangdong. Known for its durability and understated luxury, the hybrid ES300h was once almost impossible to get, with markups of 40,000–50,000 RMB; even the entry-level ES200 added 30,000–40,000 RMB, pushing the final price over 350,000 RMB. Buyers often had to rely on connections just to secure a vehicle.

Now, the market has changed. The rise of new energy vehicles has reshaped pricing norms, and even Lexus must adjust. Recently, discounts on the ES have appeared online: the original ES200 Executive priced at 299,900 RMB now drops to as low as 199,900 RMB in select cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and cities with stronger promotions like Changsha and Hefei.

Including taxes and insurance, the on-road price is around 230,000 RMB, nearly one-third lower than before—an attractive deal for luxury car enthusiasts mindful of cost.

Features and Comfort
The ES200 Executive is the entry-level model but far from basic. Dimensions: 4975/1866/1447mm, wheelbase 2870mm. Interior features include faux leather seats, 64-color ambient lighting, double-layer soundproof glass, nanoe™ X air purification, tri-zone automatic climate control, and a 14-inch central touchscreen supporting Carplay and Carlife.

Safety is robust with Lexus Safety System+ (LSS+), including pre-collision safety, adaptive cruise, lane tracing assist, 10 airbags, front and rear radars, and reversing camera.

Chassis tuning is a highlight. Built on Toyota’s TNGA-K platform with MacPherson front and multi-link rear suspension, steel-heavy construction, the ES has optimized bushings, spring flexibility, and shock travel. Minor road bumps are barely felt, while double-layer glass and Michelin tires ensure excellent cabin quietness.

Powertrain: 2.0L naturally aspirated engine with CVT, 173 hp, 206 Nm, 0–100 km/h in ~10 seconds. Not a speed demon, but reliable, efficient, and low-maintenance—perfect for buyers seeking comfort and long-term ownership value.

Market Performance and Future Plans
Despite lower prices, ES sales remained strong in 2025, rising from 108,000 units in 2024 to 118,600 units, outperforming Audi A4L, Cadillac CT5, and Volvo S60. Lexus total sales exceeded 180,000 units, the only imported luxury brand to achieve growth.

Lexus is embracing localization and electrification: in 2025, a new EV and battery R&D facility opened in Shanghai. The new ES debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show, offering hybrid and all-electric versions, with market release planned for April 2026. Upcoming model updates include IS, UX TX, NX, RX, GX, LX, and a three-row all-electric SUV expected in 2027.

In short, at 199,900 RMB, the ES200 Executive offers brand prestige, comfort, and long-term value—a rare opportunity for savvy buyers.
