(Hong Kong, March 29) 53-year-old Cantopop singer Vivian Lai, once a beloved idol of the 1990s known for hits like Promise, Everyone Has a Dream, and Foolishly in Love, stepped away from her flourishing career at its peak for love, marrying businessman Tsang Chi-ming and starting a family.

However, the marriage ended in 2014. Since then, Lai has raised her two children on her own, sending them to study in Australia while rebuilding her life and career.

Recently, she shared joyful news on social media—her daughter Sheree has graduated from university. Posting heartfelt photos from the ceremony, she wrote: “From your kindergarten graduation to your university graduation, I’ve never missed a single moment.”

Seeing her daughter in a graduation gown on stage, Lai became emotional: “My tears just kept flowing like a faucet. It’s impossible to describe how I felt.”

Reflecting on her daughter’s journey, she spoke of the transformation from a baby to a young adult who now shares conversations with her, drives her around, and even reminds her of things—moments she described as both touching and surreal.

She expressed gratitude: “Thank you for bringing both of you into my life. Even though we argue sometimes, 98% of the time is filled with happiness.”

Rather than giving extensive advice, she simply told her daughter: “Your life is yours to decide. I just hope you stay healthy and happy.”

Lai’s journey as a single mother has not been easy. Her divorce in 2014 reportedly involved a third party, bringing an end to a 12-year marriage.

Balancing work and motherhood, she persevered through challenges. Now, witnessing her daughter’s graduation, fans have flooded her with congratulations, celebrating her resilience and long-awaited sense of fulfillment.
