(Shanghai, April 6) The classic drama Romance in the Rain, created by Chiung Yao, remains a beloved series across generations. Recently, a netizen’s visit to a cemetery unexpectedly revealed the grave of actor Cao Qiugen, who played the loyal “Lieutenant Li,” bringing renewed attention to his passing 15 years ago.

On April 5, the individual discovered a tombstone bearing Cao’s name and photo at a Shanghai cemetery, with the date of death listed as October 18, 2011.

Known for his calm and dependable portrayal in the series, as well as his extensive supporting roles in television dramas, Cao’s passing had not been widely known. The rediscovery prompted an outpouring of nostalgia online, with many expressing surprise and reflecting on the passage of time.

Cao Qiugen passed away from pancreatic cancer at the age of 58 in Shanghai. Although there were limited reports around 2020, the news did not gain widespread attention at the time.
