BEIJING, July 29 – Chinese talent manager and One Heart Entertainment founder Yang Tianzhen has spoken publicly for the first time about long-standing speculation surrounding her sleeve gastrectomy, revealing that the operation was performed to treat severe diabetes rather than for cosmetic weight loss.

Speaking on a podcast, Yang explained that she underwent sleeve gastrectomy six years ago after doctors recommended the procedure to help manage her diabetes and related complications.

At the time, she weighed about 115 kilograms. She stressed that the surgery was intended to improve her metabolic health and blood sugar levels, not to achieve a slimmer figure.

Yang admitted that although she initially lost weight after the operation, she soon regained much of it because her lifestyle habits had not fundamentally changed.

"The weight-loss effect from the surgery disappeared quite quickly," she said, adding that she has continued taking medication and undergoing treatment to manage her blood sugar over the years.

According to Yang, the real transformation only began after she committed to regular exercise.

"The only real change I made was starting to exercise."

Over the past two years, she has maintained a routine of working out three to four times a week, mainly cycling and playing badminton while improving her diet. As a result, her weight gradually dropped from over 100 kilograms to around 62 kilograms, while both her blood sugar and blood lipid levels returned to healthy ranges.

However, a skiing accident earlier this year left her with injuries to her right knee meniscus and ligaments, forcing her to stop exercising for about 20 days. The reduced activity slowed her metabolism, and she regained roughly 10 kilograms.

Reflecting on the renewed public discussion about her appearance, Yang said she no longer feels the need to prove herself to others.

"Don't seek validation from others; find peace within yourself," she said.
