Apple Eyes New Gaming Platform to Replace Game Center and Boost Experience

Apple plans to launch a brand-new gaming app later this year, which will come pre-installed on devices including iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV. The app will replace the current Game Center, integrating achievements, leaderboards, social features, and cross-device gameplay experiences. The goal is to redefine the gaming ecosystem on Apple devices and strengthen its position in the competitive mobile gaming market. This move comes at a time of significant change in the gaming industry, with analysts suggesting that Apple could challenge both cloud gaming and traditional console distribution models.

Apple is working on a completely new, standalone gaming platform.

According to a report from Kuai Technology on May 28, Apple is developing a new gaming app that will be pre-installed on all of its devices later this year, including iPhones, iPads, Macs, and Apple TVs.

The new app will serve as a dedicated launcher for games, integrating features such as in-game achievements, leaderboards, social interaction, and cross-device experiences. Its goal is to offer Apple users a richer and more convenient gaming experience, catering to diverse gaming demands from cloud gaming to console-quality experiences.

Reportedly, this app will fully replace the existing Game Center, becoming the next-generation platform for Apple’s gaming business. Notably, gaming has already become a key pillar of Apple’s services revenue, with the App Store contributing two-thirds of this income.

The launch of this new gaming platform coincides with a critical period in the gaming industry—Nintendo plans to release the new Switch 2 console in early June, while Apple is expected to unveil the new app during the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

Analysts believe that Apple’s move not only enhances its device-level gaming ecosystem but also has the potential to reshape the mobile gaming distribution landscape. By integrating social and cross-platform experiences, Apple is aiming to create a unique and powerful gaming ecosystem that goes beyond cloud gaming and traditional consoles.
